Dear Colleagues,
It is with great pride that we share the news that UC Merced has been formally welcomed into the Alliance of Hispanic Serving Research Universities (HSRU) – a milestone that affirms our university’s growing national impact and our deepening commitment to research excellence and student success.
This inclusion follows our recent designation as an R1 institution and places us among 27 leading public research universities that are both Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs) and nationally recognized for their advanced research contributions. The Alliance’s mission to expand graduate pathways, foster collaborative innovation and elevate historically underserved communities aligns closely with UC Merced’s core values and long-term vision.
Membership in the HSRU Alliance reflects both our growing research stature and our ongoing commitment to ensure that graduate and doctoral education is accessible, inclusive and grounded in excellence. This is a powerful recognition of the community we’ve built together.
As part of this esteemed group of institutions, UC Merced will collaborate on national strategies to broaden participation in graduate education, support student pathways into research careers and advance social mobility through the power of knowledge creation.
Let’s continue advancing this remarkable momentum as we enter a new academic year full of promise and possibility.
