UC Merced will make it convenient for Merced County residents to register to vote and cast ballots in the March 3 election by offering both a polling location and an official Vote Center.
The polling location, which will be in the Alpine Room on the first floor of the Tenaya residence building, can be used on Election Day by voters who are registered for the site. It will be open Tuesday, March 3, from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
The Vote Center, located in the Crescent Arch Room inside the Half Dome residence building, will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily on Saturday, Feb. 29; Sunday, March 1; and Monday, March 2. On Election Day, it will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
The Vote Center differs in that it offers voters same-day registration and voting, language assistance and the opportunity to vote early. Any voter registered in Merced County can cast a ballot at the new Vote Center.
“As a universal polling place with extended hours, the Vote Center at UC Merced will provide all eligible voters a convenient opportunity to make sure their voices are heard,” said Cori Lucero, UC Merced’s executive director of government and community relations.
Staff members at the Vote Center can also offer help and voting materials in multiple languages and provide replacement ballots on request.
