Welcome to a landmark year in UC Merced’s story. As we begin the fall semester, we celebrate the 20th anniversary of our campus; two decades of growth, discovery and community impact in the heart of the Central Valley. This milestone is especially meaningful as we welcome a new class of students: nearly 40% from Central California and the San Joaquin Valley, a testament to our founding promise to create a university in the Valley, for the Valley.
Throughout the semester, we will gather to honor this history and look ahead to the future through the following special events:
This fall also launches a thrilling new era for UC Merced Athletics as we join NCAA Division II competition. Our scholar-athletes embody the determination and excellence of our campus, and I encourage you to show your support by becoming a member of the Bobcat Club , a community of fans and supporters dedicated to fueling their success on the field and in the classroom.
At the system level, my fellow UC Chancellors and I continue to work closely together in response to federal directives and in partnership with our new UC President, James B. Milliken . His leadership and energy are invigorating, and we are eager to build on that momentum as we advance our collective mission.
This is a year to celebrate not only how far we have come, but also the promise of what lies ahead. I look forward to marking these milestones with you, and shaping the next chapter of UC Merced’s remarkable journey together.
