Dear UC Merced community,
UC Merced counts among our students, faculty, staff and broader community many who have served in the military. Veterans Day is the time set aside by the nation to honor their service and sacrifices. They are our friends and family, our neighbors and our classmates, and we are deeply grateful for their service to our country.
 
We are also appreciative of the veterans who have chosen to join the UC Merced community to further their education, whether as undergraduates, graduate students or participants in our annual Yosemite Veterans Education and Leadership Seminar.
 
And we are proud as a campus to support the Merced Field of Honor, the sea of flags that is a stark reminder of the ultimate sacrifices made by too many over the centuries.
 
We mark Veterans Day to honor those sacrifices and honor those who carry on to make our campus, our community and the nation richer by their experience and their example.
